Securing the Future of U.S. Elections: A Ten-Point Plan to Rebuild Trust and Protect Liberty in Our Electoral System

As promised, today we are sharing our ten point plan to secure the future of U.S. elections. Let me state at the outset, a plan is only as good as the planner’s ability to execute. Otherwise, it’s just talk. I’m not a talker, I’m a doer. So, let’s get to the getting.
Despite overwhelming public support for election reforms, the conversation about how to achieve secure and transparent elections often devolves into partisan disputes, leaving necessary changes stymied. This is a crucial moment for our representative republic —one where the solutions to restore public trust are ready, but the political will to implement them has been lacking.
At True the Vote, we believe that securing the future of U.S. elections must not be about expanding the power of the government, but about empowering the individual. We are committed to promoting a transparent, accountable, and secure electoral system that respects voters' rights and upholds the core values of our nation. We are committed to doing all we can to depoliticize the debate around election security and move forward with meaningful reforms that can restore faith in our electoral processes.
Introducing True the Vote’s Ten-Point Plan to Secure Elections
To tackle the pressing issues surrounding election integrity, we are presenting a comprehensive Ten-Point Plan aimed at restoring transparency, trust, and security to U.S. elections. This plan is rooted in a pro-liberty philosophy that ensures the integrity of elections while safeguarding individual freedoms.
It’s a long read. Here’re the highlights, each of which are more fully explained in the document linked above:
Provide an American Voter ID (AVID): A decentralized, state-managed photo ID system that respects privacy while ensuring secure voter verification. By leveraging blockchain technology, AVID will offer secure identification without creating a centralized database, respecting both individual freedoms and state sovereignty.
Clean the Voter Rolls: Regular and rigorous maintenance of voter rolls using state-of-the-art data management practices. A federal "data lake" will facilitate accurate voter verification, ensuring that only eligible citizens are on the rolls, minimizing the risk of fraud.
Secure Paper Ballots and Enhanced Polling Infrastructure: Transitioning to secure, verifiable paper ballots and strengthening polling infrastructure to ensure transparency, auditability, and voter confidence in the election process.
Create Transparent Ballot Tabulation Processes: Real-time access to ballot counts and clear reconciliation processes that allow public oversight and ensure all ballots are accounted for, building trust in election results.
Eliminate Ballot Drop Boxes: By removing unsupervised ballot drop boxes, we will reduce opportunities for tampering, fraud, and ballot harvesting, ensuring ballots are securely handled.
Reduce Mail Ballots: Limiting mail-in voting to exceptional cases will reduce the risks associated with fraud and improve accountability by ensuring ballots are cast in secure, monitored environments.
Establish a National Voter Information Campaign for Voters’ Rights and Election Integrity: Educating voters on their rights, the voting process, and the importance of election security will enhance transparency, reduce misinformation, and restore public confidence in the system.
Ensure Equal Access to Election Data: Creating a framework for equal access to election data will enable independent verification, foster transparency, and hold all election-related entities accountable for their actions.
Update and Enforce Federal Election Standards: Modernizing key federal election laws, such as the National Voter Registration Act and the Help America Vote Act, will ensure that elections are efficient, secure, and accessible, while protecting state sovereignty.
Develop "Right to Try" Legislation for Election Innovation: This proposal encourages innovation in election technology by protecting vendors from frivolous lawsuits, fostering a competitive marketplace that will improve the security and efficiency of our elections.

While these reforms represent a significant step toward securing the future of our elections, the work doesn’t end with this plan. We are committed to creating an implementation strategy that will bring these reforms to life. It’s time to fight for the changes our country needs, changes that will benefit every American voter.
